Fleet News Update - September 2018.

Welcome to the first Fleet News Update, with September 2018 being an exciting month for Northern. The first Class 195 unit, 195103, commenced dynamic testing on the United Kingdom railway network on September 14th. 195001 and 331001 commenced testing shortly afterwards.

As of this month's update, there are currently two Class 195s and three Class 331s in the United Kingdom, with a number of two car Class 195 body shells recently arriving at CAF's new factory in Llanwern, South Wales.

The first fully refurbished Class 158, 158845, has returned to service. Externally, it has been outshopped in Northern livery, whilst the interior has been fitted with new seating, carpets, WiFi, USB charging points, LED lighting and seat reservation screens. Its first day in service after refurbishment was September 20th.

Fleet Updates.

Class 150: 
150101 has gone to Crewe for refurbishment after recently visiting Doncaster for PRM modifications and a repaint into base livery. Former GWR unit 150123 is currently at Doncaster for PRM mods, with 150132, 150138 and 150146 all being repainted and refurbished recently.

150214 and 150272 are currently out of service for PRM mods/refurbishment.

Class 155:
155342 is currently out of service for PRM mods/refurbishment.

Class 156:
156423
has gone to Loughborough for PRM mods/refurbishment, with 156466 recently being repainted and refurbished.

The five Class 156s due to transfer from ScotRail next year are 156447, 156449, 156465, 156485 and 156496.

Class 158:
158794 is currently away for PRM modifications, whilst 158845 is now back in traffic after going to Crewe for repaint and full refurbishment. 158849 is currently at Crewe for repaint and refurbishment.

Class 170:
Recent arrivals 170459, 170460 and 170461 have been reported as in traffic with Northern, whilst 170474  is at Crewe for repaint and refurbishment. 170472 and 170473 have returned to Neville Hill after being repainted and refurbished.

Class 319:
319373
has transferred to Northern after a refurbishment at Wolverton, meaning all 26 units of this subclass are now with Northern. 319367 has received new seat covers.

319424319431 and 319456 are all currently at Brush, with the latter undergoing conversion to Class 769. 319426 is still believed to be at Long Marston whilst 319434's conversion to a bi-mode unit is now complete. It is undergoing testing at the Great Central Railway.

Class 333:
333001
is currently at Holbeck for repaint and refurbishment.

Class 769:
769434
has transferred to the Great Central Railway by low loader for dynamic testing.
