Fleet News Update - December 2019.

Class 142
142021, 142026 and 142060 have gone off lease.

Class 144
All units of this class are now allocated to Heaton.

Class 150
150215 is in works.
150225 and 150269 are now PRM compliant.

Class 156
156421, 156441 and 156475 are now allocated to Heaton.

Class 158
158789 and 158901 are now PRM compliant and has been refurbished.
158907 and 158910 are in works.

Class 170
170457 is now refurbished, completing Northern's refurbishments of the class.

Class 195
195006 and 195018-020 were delivered this month.
195003-004, 195009-013 and 195015 are now in service.

321901-902 are now in storage.

Class 323
323226 is now PRM compliant and has been refurbished.

Fleet News Update - Further Pacer Withdrawals.

Since the last update, another twelve Class 142s have gone off lease, which means 44 units have now left the fleet. Those which have gone off lease since the last update are as follows:

142001, 142017, 142020, 142030-031, 142042, 142048-049, 142053, 142057, 142084 and 142092. Units 142012, 142033, 142079 and 142086 have gone to TfW Rail where they will be used for component recovery.

Also, at least two members of the class are set to survive, with 142001 now with the National Railway Museum and 142029 set to live on at the Chasewater Railway.

Fleet News Update - Pacer Withdrawals Continue.

Class 142s which have been withdrawn between December 1st and December 15th are as follows, with these comprising of 21 units:

142003, 142007, 142009, 142012, 142015, 142019, 142027-029, 142033-034, 142038-040, 142046, 142050, 142056, 142066, 142079, 142086, 142091.

It has been reported units 142012, 142079 and 142086 have moved to Landore in South Wales.

After the cessation of Pacer operation in the North East as of today's timetable change, a large number of the class is expected to go off lease imminently.

Class 142
142005 is the first Northern 142 to go for scrap, with 142044 expected to follow.
142016, 142022, 142025, 142037, 142052, 142064, 142088, 142093 and 142096 have been returned to Angel Trains.

Class 150
150105 and 150106 are now PRM compliant.
150107 and 150218 are in works.

Class 156
156459 is in works.

Class 158
158786 is now PRM compliant and has been refurbished.

Special Update - First three-car Class 331 enters service in the North West.

The first three car Class 331 unit, 331007, has entered service in the North West today on services between Liverpool Lime Street and Blackpool North. Similar unit 331015 has been delivered to Edge Hill recently.

In other news, 158843 and 158869 are now PRM compliant, whilst the latter has also been refurbished. 158871 is currently in works.

Fleet News Update - August 2019.

Class 142
142005 is the first of the Northern's Class 142 fleet withdrawn, with 142016, 142021, 142022, 142025, 142046 and 142066 in warm storage.
142012, 142013, 142014, 142030 and 142033 are now allocated to Heaton.

Class 150
150129, 150131 and 150135 are in works.
150118, 150128 and 150148 are now PRM compliant.

Class 158
158843, 158869 and 158902 are in works.
158815, 158868 and 158908 are now PRM compliant, the latter two have also been refurbished.

Class 170
170454 is in works.
170453 has been refurbished.

Class 195
195008, 195104, 195106 and 195128 were delivered this month.
195127 was delivered in early September, whilst it is understood 195009 is due for delivery in the very near future.

Special Update - All Change!

Today is the first day of service for Northern's new Class 195 and Class 331 fleets, with these being the first brand new trains for the Northern rail franchise in its current form.

Seven Class 195 units have entered service on the Manchester Airport to Barrow-in-Furness and Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Airport (as well as one journey between Lime Street and Wilmslow) routes as well as the Oxenholme to Windermere shuttle. The units which have entered service are 195102 and 195116-121.

On the east side of the Pennines, two Class 331 units (331106 and 331110) have entered service on the Leeds to Doncaster route.

June's fleet news update will be posted very soon.

A further update for the rest of March.

150113 is now PRM compliant, whilst 150115 is currently at Doncaster.

Class 155.
155343 has returned from Kilmarnock after receiving a refurbishment, with 155344 heading in the opposite direction.

Class 158.
158782 and 158902 are currently being refurbished at Crewe, with 158787 and 158851 recently receiving PRM modifications. 158904 has been refurbished.

Class 333.
333011 is the third unit of its class to be refurbished, with 333015 currently at Holbeck.

158845 has transferred to Heaton.

Class 195.
195114-195116 and 195118 were delivered during February and March.

Class 331.
331101, 331108, 331110 and 331111 were delivered during February and March, the latter being the first unit to be completed at CAF's factory in Llanwern.

Update.

I'd like to apologise not posting an update for February, however, after a much busier than expected February and early March, I just didn't have the time to do so unfortunately.

To make up for last month, I'm planning one big update for February and March on the last weekend of this month. After that, I'll do my best to get back to updating the blog on a monthly basis from April onwards.

I have now added a "Next Update Expected" message on the right hand side of the blog, which will be updated each time I update the blog.

Fleet News Update - January 2019.

Here is this month's update.

Class 150
150103, 150108 and 150120 are currently in works, whilst 150125 and 150126 have now moved from Great Western Railway.

150214 has been named The Bentham Line - A Dementia Friendly Railway. 150223 has now been refurbished.

Class 153
Former GWR unit 153377 has transferred to ScotRail for conversion to a luggage van, with the other four ex GWR 153s due to follow in the near future.

Class 156
156424 is away at Wolverton for PRM modifications and refurbishment, with 156483 recently named William George Hardy.

Class 170
170453 and 170458 have transferred from ScotRail, with the latter currently at Crewe for repaint and refurbishment.

Class 195
195001 has moved to Allerton, with 195107 now at Newton Heath. 195112 and 195113 were this month's deliveries.

Class 331
This month's delivery was 331107.

Class 769
769424 was delivered to Allerton on January 30th.

Fleet News Update - December 2018.

Apologies for this being later than planned.

Class 150
150133 and 150145 are currently at Doncaster, whilst former GWR unit 150120 has been repainted into base livery.

150214 is now refurbished, whilst 150220 is going to be the first Class 150 to receive Wi-Fi and charging sockets.

Class 156
156447, 156449, 156465, 156485 and 156496 are now Northern units and have been allocated to Heaton depot. 156427 has returned from Wolverton after being refurbished.

Class 158
Former ScotRail units 158782, 158786, 158789 and 158867-158869 transferred to Northern between December 10th and 13th.

158904 went to Crewe for refurbishment on December 11th, this being the first 158/9 unit to be refurbished. It will be refurbished to "Northern Connect" specification, albeit without a seat reservation system.

Class 170
170454-170457 transferred to Northern at the start of the month.

Class 195
195001 is now at Newton Heath, whilst 195103 and 195105 are at Allerton.

Class 319
319458 is at Wolverton ahead of moving to Loughborough for conversion to Class 769, leaving short term loanee 319446 as the last Class 319/4 in traffic with Northern.

Class 331
331106 was delivered to Edge Hill depot between December 10th and 16th.

Class 333
333001 has returned from Holbeck after repaint and refurbishment, with 333013 going in the opposite direction.

Class 769
769431 arrived at Allerton on December 21st.
